Konzeptlos? DJ D.H + Rainer [Deutsch?] Since the early 90s, the two friends have been connected by their love of music outside the mainstream. A few years later, they were playing the crackling gems at parties. Many of the danceable 60s/70s sounds they play are little known outside their region of origin. The two founded Konzeptlos in 2002 as a DJ collective. They played in venues in the region and many of their (legendary) parties were celebrated in the open air. In the summer of 2014, they fulfilled a long-standing dream and launched the concert series ‘Konzeptlos presents’. By 2022, they had organised over 20 amazing concerts on the small stage of the Kaschemme in Basel. The audience experienced great, rediscovered artists, legends and up-and-coming musicians from all over the world up close. Guests included Hailu Mergia, Pat Thomas, L'Eclair, Ebo Taylor, Embryo, Onom Agemo & Ahmed AG Kaedy, ROB, Karl Hector & The Malcouns, Mabiisi and many more. They currently organise and collaborate with various cultural venues and collectives.
D.H? He is an artist, musician and studio owner, among other things. He helped build the Kaschemme and put his heart and soul into running it for eight years, initiating and supporting many creative processes. In 2020, he collaborated with artist Vasil Lagos on the participatory installation ‘Dejà-Vu’. After the premiere at the market square, four chapters followed a year later at the Kaschemme.
As part of the ‘Konzeptlos presents’ concert series, many concerts were recorded with permission. The material mastered by him and Milan Marti in the studio is sent to the bands. It is intended to serve as a kind of start-up aid for new or young bands, for example. But even established bands greatly appreciate the offer. For example, Onom Agemo & Ahmed AG Kaedy released the mastered live recording Alghafiat on their album
Rainer? His passion for discovering new old sounds continues unabated. Much of it is hardly known outside its region of origin and small ‘connoisseur circles’. He repeatedly supports bands and labels with recordings or information from LPs/45s from his collection so that they can be re-released. Often, the master tapes no longer exist and the band members do not have any playable records. The official re-relases help to ensure that the money flows back to the creators of the music.
Since the mid-90s, he has been DJing out of pure passion, alone and with DJ friends (Akiwawa, Tropical Chaos, Plates & Punch). Rainer played in countless bars and clubs in Basel and Switzerland. His musical gems have also attracted attention far beyond the country's borders, with invitations coming in from Beirut, Dakar, London, New York...
